Senior Book Break Subject: A Mystery
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
A quirky cast of characters, who are residents of a posh British retirement village, who get together and solve mysteries. When a murder happens right in their residence they really have there work cut for them. Our reader found this book enjoyable.
The Maid by Nita Prose
Molly, the maid, works in an elegant hotel and is proud of her work and diligence. A wealthy resident is found dead, and it seems almost everyone had a reason to do this, as he was not a nice person. Even Molly is suspect. After many twists and turns the real killer is revealed, which gave the final twist.
Sick Puppy by Carl Hiaasen
Our protagonist has no problem with money, but abhors litterers. He decides to teach a lesson to a particularly offensive litterer by stealing his beloved black lab to teach him a lesson. Much chaos ensues. Our reader found the book offensive and only liked chapter 29. Which was ridiculous.
Our next meeting takes place Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. The topic is a Spy Story.
