SRP 2022 Awards Ceremony was July 23, 2022.

Our Under the Sea themed Summer Reading Program was a great success. Kids went way over the six books in six weeks challenge.
Seven-year-old Jason brought home the big win again with 34 books read. That kid loves to read and one time told us he plans to read all of the books in the library before he is a grownup.
All kids who completed the program received a certificate of accomplishment, gift cards to in-N-out Burger and Doc Burnsteins and two free passes to the@ccaquariumavila.
Kais, 7, logged 15 books. He is a big fan of adventure stories and Dr, Seuss is his favorite author.
“I really like reading,” he said. “I like the characters. I do adventures like in the books. At the church next to mine, we go there and explore in the bushes and hunt for treasure.”
Congratulations to all. Make plans to join us next year where the fun begins on page 1.

The library is committed to supporting literacy with its annual Summer Reading Program. Students from 1st grade through middle school take on the challenge to read six books in six weeks. Each year, a special theme helps motivate readers as they make the commitment to pass up “screen time” in favor of books.

Our 2019 program was our most successful yet! Nearly 60 kids signed up, and 38 completed the challenge to read six books in six weeks. Our top reader read 29 books. All youth who completed the program earned fabulous prizes, including a gift certificate to In-N-Out Burger.

The theme, Readers are Leaders, was an unexpected hit. Each reader chose a leader to put on the board in order to track his or her progress. Children chose leaders from Malala Yousafzai, to Chuck Yeager, to Abraham Lincoln, to “Grandma.”  We loved seeing not only the dedication to reading, but also the celebration of leaders from all walks of life.
