Three times a year, the library holds its famous book sale. Community members of all ages gather to browse books and connect with one another. The money raised from these sales supports the library so we can continue to offer high-quality free programs for the community.
In order to comply with state and local guidelines for safe gatherings and to keep our patrons, volunteers, and community safe, the library has postponed the book sales until further notice.
While this shutdown is hard for book lovers everywhere, there is a bright spot. At our last book sale, in March, local resident Alejandra Mahoney purchased 10 boxes full of books to distribute for free to children in Santa Maria whose access to books was impacted by the school and library shutdowns. We look forward to when we can again safely offer books at bargain prices to keep the community reading.
