Senior Book Break

The Library is now offering a book club program specifically for seniors. The program’s intent is to make the library more user friendly to our seniors. We are hoping to encourage seniors who are living in senior housing communities to come to the library to share conversation and refreshment. The focus of the program is discussion on literary genre and authors. This program differs from a traditional book club in that the topics are broader than a discussion on any one book.

Next meeting: Tuesday, August 8, 2017
Topic: Beloved Authors Off the Beaten Path

Unless posted otherwise, Senior Book Break will be held the second Tuesday of the month from 10:30 until 11:30 am. Coffee and refreshments will be served. All seniors are welcome. For more information, call the Library at (805) 481-4131 any day during open hours.

The Grover Beach Community Library is now offering group storytime every Monday at 10:30 a.m. starting on January 11th. Children of all ages are welcome for some stories, songs and surprises in English and Spanish. This is a chance to introduce children to their local library, enjoy a fun story by one of our special readers, and take a big step towards the love of reading and books. Come join us for Storytime!

Reading to Rover

Every Wednesday at 1 p.m., Caring Canines therapy-trained dogs and handlers will visit the Grover Beach Community Library to work with children who would benefit from practice outside the home or classroom with beginning reading skills. Reading to a dog will promote reading skills while building self-confidence. Drop in and try it out!

Summer Reading

The Grover Beach Community Library's 2017 Summer Reading Program for grades K-6 concludes with a Closing Ceremony on Saturday, July 22, at 2:30 p.m. All books must be read and returned by then in order to be counted. All participants who have read at least one book as part of the 6 week program are invited to the Closing Ceremony. Those who have read at least 6 books will get a $5 gift card to In-N-Out Burger! Come to the library to mark your latest progress on the bulletin board, and remember this year's theme of Summer Fun!
